I am so pleased with how this sewing studio came out. We recently added the 400 sq foot room onto our home for my sewing area. The Koala Studio cabinets are perfect, with one for my sewing machine and one for my serger. I have all the room I need for absolutely every task. The room has plenty of light and I enjoy the way the cabinets fold down when the room is needed for guests.

Last week my two granddaughters were here for a week of sewing with me. They really liked the time in “Nana’s Nook”. The cabinets function so well and I am really enjoying them. I am glad I found them before I had custom cabinets built for the room.

    Hi Kathy!
I am a NANA too! Love the name of your area. I may copy it ?!? LOVE your sewing area/NOOK! I have2 granddaughters also. They are 6 yrs. and 2 years old. The 6 year old is asking if she can sew at the machine when I sewed at her house. When did you start your granddaughters? I am so afraid of little fingers getting hurt….but I want to so badly teach them!
Thanks . Would love a response even if private.

Sorry to be late in responding to this. I just logged on to look at these pictures again. The girls were about 7 years old when we started. Our first project was an oversized pillow case that we inserted a rope tie drawstring in the top. It required only straight stitching and the threading of the rope through the casing. They then decorated it with fabric pens and gave it to their parents as a travel laundry bag. They have since made simple dresses and tote bags. They have also made those baggy pajama pants that are so popular with kids these days. I am hopeful they will circle back around at some point as they are now teenagers and very busy. They do not stay long enough to comeplete projects any more. Great me,Oreos for them and for me. We never had a problem with stitched fingers in the beginning by limiting the projects to straight seams.
