This helps me a lot. I don’t have a big room to design around and you have given me some great ideas.

Denise, can you tell me how you made the wall frame to hang individual squares? I’ve been trying to figure out the best materials to do the same, but not sure what works best. I really like how yours looks.

Hi Joann, today I happened to look at my studio folder. And saw your question. The design wall was made with the (2) 4′ x 8′ plywood, same size for styrofoam. My husband cut the size to 5′ 5″ x 5′ X 5″ due to space. He secured the plywood board to the wall with anchors then glued the styrofoam to the plywood. We put batting around the styrofoam (with tape) before glueing it to to the board. Then he used trim wood to frame in the entire board. I love it and it works wonderful for looking at the blocks before sewing together. The batting works great so you don’t need a lot of pins. Several ladies in my local quilt guild saw the board and had their husbands make them one too. Hope this helps. Happy Quilting Denise K.

Your use of space is inspiring to those of us who have studios that are small bedrooms. I especially like a studio that I can walk into and sit down and create. Your touch of whimsy brought a smile to my soul.

You have given me some great ideas!! I am planning a design wall, so it was wonderful to see how you accomplished that. How large is your actual space?
