Sometimes dreams do come true. For Washington resident, Genelle T., it was as easy as seeing something she wanted and filling out a form. After doing just that while shopping for sewing supplies at Quality Sewing and Vacuum, her name was picked as the winner of the 2013 I’m Dreaming of a Koala Studio holiday sweepstakes.
Genelle has been sewing for many years, and has known about Koala Studios sewing furniture for some time now. “I always liked Koala, so when I went to the store and they had an entry box, I thought I’d try,” she said. It was as simple as that. She was surprised to win the grand prize, the Koala Storage Tower.
Genelle is excited about the extra storage, though she said there’s still one aspect that takes up too much space. “I have too many used machines. My husband said I can’t get anymore,” she said laughing. Though her machines are all used, they still come to good use; each serves a different purpose. She has an embroidery machine, a cover stitch-only machine, a serger, and a longarm machine.
Before she owned a variety of machines, Genelle learned to sew by sewing garments. She sewed a skirt in high school and later continued to make clothes for her mother-in-law. “She just wanted something comfortable to wear and couldn’t find it in the store,” she said. Additionally, Genelle sewed for herself after achieving a significant amount of weight loss. “Nothing fit anymore, and clothes that did fit needed to be hemmed.” Today, she still repairs garments but prefers embroidery and quilting.
Thanks again to everyone who entered the sweepstakes, and a special congratulations to Genelle!
